Terms of Use
This English version is a reference translation. In the event of any discrepancy, the Japanese version prevails.
Dopalock (“the App”) is an iOS app for managing smartphone use, provided by Kagami, Inc. (“we” or “us”). These Terms of Use (“Terms”) set out the conditions for using the App. By downloading or using the App, you are deemed to have agreed to these Terms.
The Japanese version of these Terms is the official text.
1. About the App
- The App helps you build healthier usage habits: you complete a focus timer to earn “keys,” which you then use to unlock your phone.
- The App uses iOS Screen Time to manage your usage. Control via Screen Time takes place entirely on your device.
- Some features of the App (Pro features) are paid. You can see which features are free and which are paid within the App or on the App Store.
2. Changes to These Terms
- We may revise these Terms as needed.
- If we make significant changes, we will notify you in advance within the App or on our website. If you continue to use the App after such notice, you are deemed to have agreed to the revised Terms.
3. Account
- The App supports creating an account via “Sign in with Apple” (optional). An account can be used to protect and carry over your data.
- You can delete your account and its associated data at any time from “Settings > Account” within the App. When you do so, account-related data will be deleted, except for records that need to be retained as described in the Privacy Policy.
- Deleting your account and canceling a paid plan are separate actions. To cancel a paid plan, please do so separately through your App Store settings (see Section 6).
4. Minors
- The App is not available to anyone under 13 years of age.
- If a minor uses the App, they must do so with the consent of a parent or other legal guardian.
5. Fees and Billing
- The fees for paid features and their renewal dates are shown at the time of purchase and on the App Store.
- Payments are processed through the App Store in accordance with Apple’s procedures and terms. We do not hold your payment information (such as credit card details).
6. Auto-Renewal and Cancellation
- Paid plans are subscriptions. Unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, the subscription renews automatically and the same amount is charged.
- To turn off auto-renewal or cancel, go to “App Store > Manage Subscriptions” on your device. Cancellation cannot be carried out within the App.
7. Refunds
- Except where required by law, fees already paid are generally non-refundable.
- Refunds are handled in accordance with Apple’s terms and applicable law.
8. Prohibited Conduct
When using the App, you must not:
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise improperly obtain or analyze the App’s source code;
- exploit defects in the App, or use its features or paid content through improper means; or
- infringe the rights of us or any third party, or otherwise violate the law.
9. Measures for Violations
- If you violate these Terms, or in other cases where we deem it necessary, we may, without prior notice, suspend your use of the App, delete your account, or take other necessary measures.
- We are not liable for any damage you incur as a result of measures taken under this Section, except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence.
10. Intellectual Property
- The intellectual property rights in the App and its content (text, images, design, software, etc.) belong to us or the respective rightful owners.
11. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
- We do not warrant that the App is completely accurate or free from defects or interruptions.
- Except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence, we are not liable for any damages you incur arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App.
- Even where we are liable, our liability is limited to direct and ordinary damages, and the maximum amount of compensation is the App usage fees we received from you during the one (1) month immediately preceding the time the damage occurred. We are not liable for lost profits or damages arising from special circumstances.
- This Section does not apply to the extent it would be void under the Consumer Contract Act or other mandatory laws.
12. Changes, Suspension, and Termination of the Service
- We may change the content of the App, or temporarily suspend or terminate its provision.
- If we terminate the service, we will endeavor to give advance notice where reasonably possible.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
- These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan.
- Any dispute arising between us and you in relation to the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance.
